7/26/2023 0 Comments Duke nukem 3d world tour eduke32These controls work in tandem with traditional analog stick aiming in a way that allows the precise shooting of something like Splatoon 2.Īs somebody who's played this game dozens upon dozens of times, I found myself having to relearn how to engage with the game on a mechanical level. The motion controls are great for aiming at specific points on the screen, or fine-aiming to line up the perfect headshots. You can also use the gyroscope controls in handheld mode - recalling the terse, precise shooting of Uncharted: Golden Abyss. The game encourages players to play with the Joy-Cons undocked from the grip - recalling the control schemes of the best Wii shooters. I think people were mostly upset about Atomic Edition getting removed from the stores despite this being a rather standard part of remasters and re-releases (same thing happened with Blood One Unit Whole getting replaced with Blood Fresh Supply people also hated Fresh Supply).Ī third reason is that it's fun to meme about the Cursed Randy Version. What really elevates this port, though, are the added (and optional) motion controls. I cannot explain it exactly, but finally I can fully appreciate and experience the Duke3D.Īnother reason is that it was seen as a rather low-effort cash-grab which isn't entirely fair as World Tour and its soundtrack are quite good. So, I downloaded Rednukem sourceport, copied two files from World Tour, took some time to setup some things like MIDI device and now everything works better. Yesterday I watched FP Media's review, saying that new remaster has imprecise controls. Also, I've read, that some people hasn't liked World Tour comparing to Atomic Edition. ![]() However, the game was somewhat harsh to me, gameplay wasn't as enjoying as in Doom on technical side - even compared to Doom's vanilla. Lee Jackson made some tracks here that are by far my favorites of his. By far this is the real highlight of this release. ![]() I have some gripes with it, mainly that it seems to all end abruptly, but there are some nice designs here. It is useful for sure, though not necessary. This is pretty cool, and reminds me of the XBLA version. With that said, here’s a few things I do like about it: I prefer playing it on a source port and not through the EXE it comes packaged with. There are far better ways to play the new content without using WT itself. Personally, I think they should’ve made the new weapon the “laser chainsaw” weapon mode for the freezethrower, and perhaps it could’ve been a bit like the welder weapon from the newer Wolfenstein games, shooting an assault trooper laser in full auto, sort of like an energy weapon paying tribute to DN64’s plasma gun. The new weapon is almost cool, but it is nowhere near as useful as it should’ve been. The “new” enemy is underused and not that interesting, and the “new” boss and weapon leave a lot to be desired as well. For more causal players on console this probably doesn’t bother them, but for someone who has been playing the game on PC since the 90s it slows the game down, and makes multiplayer far worse. There is now a slight delay in switching weapons. Weapon switching has been ruined with that stupid weapon wheel. The new lines he did for the new episode are fine, but the re-recorded lines not so much. Duke’s re-recorded lines sound as if JSJ was bored, and he even messed up my favorite line “I should’ve known those alien maggots boobytrapped the sub” is instead “I should’ve known those alien bastards boobytrapped the sub”. They sound off and some sounds don’t play the way they’re supposed to, especially in multiplayer. (One) of the biggest drawbacks for me personally was the following: I'm just curious about, what's wrong is about World Tour, why some people dislike it, why Atomic Edition is thought to be better, are controls can be setup to work well ? I cannot explain it exactly, but finally I can fully appreciate and experience the Duke3D. At first glance, everything is ok, nicely freshed and adjusted for modern times and setting the thing up is simple. I've completed shareware episode with DOSBox some time ago. Let me tell my short story with the Duke3D. ![]() I know, that's a Doom forum with Doom experts, but here I can also find players who love 3D Realms' franchise and I don't wanna join too many communities.
